One of our readers wrote to us to comment on Mbiti’s discussion of the relationship between magic and religion.

“Of both pieces I only partially agree with Mbiti. Because magic is a world we are not familiar with in West African traditional rites and worship…In my personal lecture Magic was attributed by foreigners as they couldn’t understand what was behind our ancestors’ practices. Magic is basically prestidigitation to me.

Second piece when he said : no future…I am a bit perplexed and skeptical”
