The events are not new, but the interesting thing is that, as in many other countries in Sub-Saharan Africa, (alleged) witches are persecuted. The fact in itself is rather sad or depressing. But it is also somewhat interesting as it may wide ranging implications for the study of traditional beliefs in the continent.
